Obituary for Corine Carter

Ms. Corine Carter , age 74 of the Woodbine, Ga. Harriett’s Bluff community passed away in the early morning hours of Friday, May 29, 2015 at her residence, surrounded by her family and friends.
Ms. Carter was born on October 16, 1940 in Waycross, Ga. She is the daughter of the late Verdie Walker & Walter Crews. Ms. Carter was a 1959 graduate of Ware Co. High School. Her family said of her that Ms. Carter was a devoted Christian, often getting up before dawn to reflect on God’s written word. She was a faithful member of the Hidden Treasures Assembly of God in Kingsland, Ga., often attending Wednesday & Sunday services. She was a dedicated employee of Bayer Crop Science with over 35 years of service. After retirement, she became a staff member of the Camden County Recreation Department. Among her achievements, Ms. Carter was a Certified Chemical Firefighter. She advised authorities after the Thiokol Chemical explosion in Woodbine, Ga. in 1971. Her family spoke laughingly of her sense of humor that always came with her many smiles. She loved her roses. Ms. Carter was a woman of strong will, dedication to her family and was a loyal friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Ms. Carter is survived by her beloved children, Robin Tatum of Woodbine, Ga., Robert Kenneth (Tammy) Carter of Charleston, Tn., Tonya Leigh Joseph Michael) Fertig of East Stroudsburg, Pa, and Sonya (Tony Bennett) Knight of Yulee, Fl.; her brother, Virgil Crews of Folkston, Ga.; her grandchildren, Jeffery Carter, Jessica Durham, Brian Bollan, Amber Carter, Ethan Carter, Erica Poirier, Summer Knight, Jennifer Fertig & Joseph Fertig; her great grandchildren, Emmaline Grace, Lilly Ann, Hudson Lee, McKenzie Hope & Shawn Phillip; and best friends, Nell Morgan & Samantha Luffman.
Calling hours for the Carter family will be from 6 to 8 pm, Saturday May 30, 2015 at Coastal Camden Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 3pm on Sunday, May 31, 2015 at Hidden Treasures Assembly of God in Kingsland, Ga. with Pastors’ Rick & Shannon Arreola presiding. Pallbearers will be Kim Carter, Joshua Poirier, Delbert Cooper, Ryan Durham & Joseph Fertig. Interment will follow in Colesburg Cemetery in Woodbine, Ga.
