October 30, 1935 – August 15, 2018
Mr. Cecil E. Mays, age 82, of Griffin, passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Piedmont Fayette Hospital.
Cecil was born on October 30, 1935 in Griffin, to the late Ruby Chambers Mays and the late Stanley Mays. He owned and operated Mays Printing Company in Griffin for over 55 years. He enjoyed sports and was actively involved in coaching basketball and softball for many years. Cecil was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church, and was also an active member of the American Business Club and the Shriners Organization. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Regina Grubbs and brothers, Robert Mays, J. D. Mays and Floyd Mays.
Survivors include his wife Bettie Mays; sons and daughter-in-law, Eric and Laverne Mays; and Zack Mays; daughter and son-in-law, Cecilia and C. W. Stoots; grandchildren, Brad and Amber Mays, Alan and Shea Mays, Erica and Daniel Turner, Justin and Amber Grubbs, Joey and Katy Grubbs, Caleb Stoots and Brianna Stoots; 13 great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Edna Ruth and Clifford Hutson; brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Gloria Mays; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services for Mr. Cecil E. Mays will be held on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home. Dr. Ed Hoard will officiate. Interment will be private. Friends may visit with the family 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Sunday.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Mr. Cecil E. Mays.
