She was so young. Dealing with death is never easy for any of us. God promises us at Psalms 34:15 to speak with him because he listens to our cries for help. Trusting in him will be of comfort.

Patty was one of my third cousins. She was 10 years younger than me as I was born in 1953, and her birthday was as March 17, hence “Patty” for St. Patrick’s Day. She was just so sweet growing up and was quiet and shy most of the time. I remember my mother telling me that Patty had achieved her degree in education and she was a school teacher. We were so happy and proud of her and I wanted to go and see her so I could tell her how I felt. While there, she introduced us to her beautiful dog and demonstrated some things she had taught her dog to do, like sit, heel, lie down, roll over, all the basic things. Then she demonstrated some more sophisticated abilities like running back and forth through cones, jumping through a hoop, and many other more complicated performances. Patty used to come to see my two boys when they would visit my mother and daddy. Patty’s grandmother was my mother’s sister. She spent time with them and would always bring them little cars, or crayons and a coloring book. They loved Patty and they loved her visits. Patty and I had not been in touch in a number of years I am sorry to say. Life engulfs us and we become so immersed in the rush. I have prayed for Patty over the last few years, since I became aware that she was having some major health issues. I’m also sorry that I didn’t make the time to find her and offer whatever kind of comfort I could have given, if any, or just to be with her a while. One thing I’m sure of is that any meager effort I could have made is unimportant at this point, as Patty is now in the beautiful presence of our Lord and Savior never to hurt again!! Praise God for His goodness!!
