Obituary for James Franklin Mikell

Mr. James Franklin Mikell, 86, died Monday, March 9th, 2020, after a short illness.
A graveside service will be held at 11 am Saturday, March 14th, 2020 at Palmetto Cemetery in Brunswick, Ga. with Pastor Jimmy Carter presiding.
Mr. Mikell was born March 2nd, 1934 in Bristol, Georgia to the late James and Gula Mikell. He graduated from Glynn Academy with the Class of 1952 and joined the United States Air Force that September. He was sent to Waco, Texas, for pilot training, where he met and fell in love with a local girl. He and Doris married in December 1954 and, together, they continued his Air Force career, including three tours of Vietnam and one tour in the Philippines. He retired in 1972 at the rank of Master Sergeant, whereupon they promptly permanently retired to Brunswick, GA. Post-retirement, he attended then-Brunswick Junior College under the G.I. Bill and became a fully certified welder. He then turned his attention toward the family farm full time, doing as he pleased.
Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his wife, Doris Lykins Mikell.
He is survived by four children: Ron A. Mikell (Debbie) of Dillsburg, PA; Glenn E. Mikell (Karen) of Brunswick, GA; Anna (Kyle Adams) of Brunswick, GA; and Paul A. Mikell of Brunswick, GA. Grandchildren include Lisa Bartlett (Jeff), Scott Mikell, Jim Mikell (Iliyana), Josh Mikell (Sue), Ashley Gibbs (David), Alisha Richardson (Ben), Michael Adams (Ginny), Jennifer Adams, Stephanie Adams (Robert Brazell), Beverly Mikell, and P.J. Mikell, as well as many great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his cherished close friends Cork, Roy & Pat and Jeanette Ficarelli.
