Obituary for John Albert Edwards
Mr. John Albert Edwards , age 83, passed away at his home on Saturday, August 17 th , 2019 after a long ongoing illness.
He was the beloved husband of Martha Ann Edwards.
They shared 57 wonderful years of marriage together.
John was born September 23rd, 1935 in Metter, Ga. to the late Dorsey Watson and Louida Olliff Edwards. The family eventually settled in Statesboro, Ga. While a senior in high school, Mr. Edwards joined the Air National Guard and in 1954, he and his family moved to Kingsland, Ga. He began working at McDonald’s Ship Building Company in St. Marys until it closed in late 1954. It was then that he started to work at Gilman Paper Kraft Bag, multiwall division, until his retirement in 1987, after 32 dedicated years. Mr. Edwards is survived by his beloved wife, Martha Ann; his daughters, Candy Barber and Connie Conrad; his step-son, Darryl Jones; his grandchildren, Rene Thornton, Taylor (Jesse) Farina, Lauren Jones, and Morgan Rathbun; his great-grandchildren, Tanner Jeffers, Liam Thornton, Noah Harden, and Willow Dubberly; his great great-granddaughter, Rhys Reed; and his siblings, Carl (Sue) Edwards, Barbara Flake, Joann (Jack) Bowen, Kay Hall, Sherry (Reid) Morgan; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and his aunt, Ethyl Etheridge.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Edwards joins his
son Randall Dean Edwards and many cherished relatives in Heaven.
Calling hours for Mr. Edwards’ family will be from 1 pm to 3 pm Wednesday, August 21 st , 2019 at Coastal Camden Funeral Home. Services will follow immediately at 3 pm in the Woods-Wainwright Chapel of the funeral home. Interment will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Marys, Ga. Joel Flake, Dean Flake, Greg Pinette, Bryan Edwards, Sean Edwards, and Jesse Farina will serve as pallbearers and Steve Houston will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
