Mr. Larry “Hammer” Reid
September 13, 1953 – February 18, 2018

Larry “Hammer” Reid was born in Griffin, Georgia on September 13, 1953 to the late Mr. Lafayette Reid and Mrs. Lucille Reid.

He was united in holy matrimony to Betty Ann Mayes on April 7, 1991. He diligently worked at the City of Griffin Sanitation Department for many years until his health failed.

Larry was affectionately known as “Hammer”. He loved to dance and have a good time. He always took care of his family, and never met a stranger.

He was preceded in death, by his father, LaFayette Reid and brother, Danny Reid.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Betty Ann Reid; mother, Lucille Reid; two daughters, Lashawn Reid and Angela Mayes; five grandchildren, Aveious Yarbrough, Jalen Turner, Neshawn Reid, Tabarris Reid and Shawalter Reid; two sisters, Jeanette Young and Annette Weems; brother, Tony Reid; two aunts, Mamie Hightower and Betty Jean Rucker; two uncles, James Rucker and Richard Rucker; four sisters-in-law, Nettie Hall, Willie Mae Fambro, Estella Taylor and Lena Alexander; brother-in-law, Jimmy Roberts; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Larry “Hammer” Reid will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit the family Friday evening from 6 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home.
