Otis J. “Pop” Martin, age 90, of Griffin, GA, returned to the Lord on Sunday, May 20, 2018.

Otis was born on August 28, 1927, in Griffin, GA to the late Ode and Julia Martin. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Marie “Peggy” Moody Martin; sons, Denny Lee Scott and Otis Martin, Jr.; brothers, James “Sport” Martin and Bobby Joel Martin; and grandsons, Ronald David Ohly and Bryan Christopher Ohly.

He leaves a large and loving family to cherish his memory including his daughters, Marie A. (Robert) Pritchett, and Susan (Randy) Sweat; sons, Jimmy D. (Heather) Martin and Randall William (Eloise) Martin; 19 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Doris (Jimmy) Anderson and Helen Dickinson; and brothers, Tommy A. (Lily) Martin and L. Ray (Lynn) Martin.

Of all the things that could be said about Otis, faithful is the word that most comes to mind. He was faithful to raise his 6 children, plus a granddaughter and a great-granddaughter. He was a faithful servant of the Lord and member of Cornerstone Assembly, where he served as a member of the board for a number of years.

“Well done, thou good and faithful servant, …enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.”

Funeral services for Otis J. “Pop” Martin will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home. Reverend James Kennedy will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
